Phil Jones tries to cheer up Louis van Gaal with cutting comment about life under David Moyes

Louis van Gaal won't be thanking Phil Jones for this pearl of wisdom  about life at Old Trafford currently.

The England international was speaking to reporters after Saturday's 2-1 loss to Norwich that has seen the Premier League side slip slightly off the pace in the title race, and out of the top four. Coupled with an exit from the Champions League, and a horrendous run that has seen the club fail to win now in their last six, and things look quite bleak for Louis van Gaal. But  according to the BBC, Phil Jones thinks that the current manager is not quite as bad as the last guy that was in charge. In what we can only think Jones felt was a compliment, he believes that while things might be bad under Louis van Gaal, he is still better than his predecessor.

"I wouldn't say it's the lowest moment. I think it became pretty glum under David Moyes."

Ouch. The 23-year-old did try and talk up his current boss and deflect some of the blame onto the players ,but it doesn't sound very convincing

The manager is doing all he can and is doing a terrific job. "It's not even questionable in the dressing room. The lads are absolutely fully focused on performing well for the manager, the fans, ourselves - week in, week out. "The players in there aren't hiding behind anyone."
