What do you mean you didn't even know he was a manager?
Phil Babb will always be a hero round these parts for his performances for Ireland at the World Cup in the USA (and for sliding into the goalpost that time).
But sadly the good people of Hayes and Yeading will never know what it's like to worship at the alter of Babb after the former Liverpool defender resigned as manager of the Conference South club.
After 10 games without a win Babb decided to bring his two-year stint at the club to an end.
“He’s left the club because of results and nothing more than that,” chairman Tony O’Driscoll told Get West London.
“He’s a great guy and it was a difficult job. It was a mutual decision. We had a chat and both agreed to part ways and give somebody else a chance to come in and hopefully save us from relegation."
Names in the mix to replace Babb include Rufus Brevett, Julian Dicks, Marcus Gayle and Kevin Gallen proving that Hayes and Yeading is the go-to place for Premier League stars of 1994.
