Pedri won't be feeling too hot either.
Having enjoyed the majority of the possession and created a few good chances in the opening 20 minutes of their round of 16 tie against Croatia, Spain then shot themselves in the foot. a
Goalkeeper Unai Simon mis-controlled a bouncing back pass from midfielder Pedri, letting the ball roll past him and into the vacant net.
Replays show the goalkeeper took his eye off the ball for a split second before trying to control it, consequently misjudging the bounce of the ball.
Most of the blame should lay at the keeper's feet here, who couldn't even blame the sun being in his eyes. but Pedri will also be regretting the pace, bounce and direction of his backpass. As we are all taught as children, always make sure a back pass is off-target, so you can avoid calamities like this.
Spain equalised through Pablo Sarabia soon afterwards, and continue to pin the Croatian defence back in search of a second, at the time of writing.
But rest assured that if they don't go through tonight, Unai Simon will feel like the biggest fool in Copenhagen.
