This is the news that United fans have been waiting for
While Manchester United remain second in the table, Jose Mourinho hasn’t been above blaming injuries for a few less than stellar recent results.
Paul Pogba started the season in decent form, but has been sidelined since being injured in the Champions League against Basel in September. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been out even longer, having not played for seven months after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury.
Now, however, Jose Mourinho has confirmed that both Pogba and Ibrahimovic are back and available to play to play Saturday’s home match against Newcastle United (of course, this is no guarantee that they will play).
He also said that Marcus Rojo is back as well. Mourinho said:
"The players that stayed here and [were] recovering from injuries, even the ones that are recovering from big injuries, they are ready to play,” and specified Pogba, Ibrahimovic and Rojo as the players he was referring to.
“Paul, now I can speak because he's back, I don't like to speak while he was injured, but you can clearly see Manchester United this season before Paul’s injury and after Paul’s injury. There are qualities in our football, there are qualities that influence our approach in matches with Pogba and without Pogba - it's as simple as that."
And on Ibrahimovic, he added: “Last season Zlatan played almost every minute until he was injured.
"This season we [have had to] play in a different way, but he's a very important player for us and, of course, we welcome him back. [He has shown] incredible personality to fight such an important injury."
