Newcastle United plot to sign Liverpool star this summer

The club are looking to build on their Carabao Cup success.

Building on the back of the Carabao Cup success, Eddie Howe is aiming to add some more exciting additions to the side, this time through Reds centre-back Jarell Quansah.

Despite having four years left on his contract, the club believe that a fee of around £30million could be enough to tempt Arne Slot's side into a potential sale.

Due to profit and sustainability rules, Newcastle have not been able to spend as they have wished, although that will change in the next window.

A profile that the club have identified is a right-sided centre-back and Quansah fits that description.

Despite his huge promise, Quansah has not been able to hold down a regular place in Slot's side and The Toon Army previously enquired on the player last summer, as per The Times.

Howe's outfit failed to sign fellow centre-half Marc Guehi last summer, despite four sizeable bids and would like to avoid a similar scenario this summer.

Quansah was withdrawn by Slot at half-time during his first game - a 2-0 victory at Ipswich Town.

Despite being a regular in the Carabao Cup, including starting in the final, the defender didn't start in the league for four months following the Ipswich substitution.

Howe also wants two other profiles

The Newcastle United gaffer also want to sign a right-sided forward and a goalkeeper this summer.

The policy is to acquire young players, shown by Howe with a plethora of signings aged 25 or under.

James Trafford, 22, of Burnley, has been continuously linked to the club and has kept a remarkable 26 league sheets so far this season - in the Championship.

It is understood the club are one of the frontrunners for his services.
