Mohamed Salah and Sam Kerr win the Football Writers’ Association’s Footballer of the Year awards

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah has been voted the Football Writers' Association's Footballer of the Year, after yet another incredible season under is belt. Chelsea striker Sam Kerr received the women's award as the Australian striker enjoyed a fantastic year, leading the line for the London club. [caption id="attachment_258605" align="alignnone" width="1024"]  (Photo by Chris Brunskill/Fantasista/Getty Images)[/caption] This is the second time that Salah has picked up the award, after previously winning it in 2018, and took 48% of the vote, ahead of Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne and West Ham midfielder Declan Rice. The Egypt international has scored 30 goals for the Reds this season, 22 in the Premier League, and has already won the English League Cup. A key part of Jurgen Klopp's, Salah isn't finished yet as he and The Reds continue to chase further domestic and European success. Kerr, who has scored 18 goals in the Women's Super League to help Chelsea top the table, claimed 40% of the vote with Arsenal's Vivianne Miedema in second place and Lauren Hemp of Manchester City placing third.
