Michael Owen makes a mess of defending his awful pre-season predictions

It's not quite the same Michael.

Michael Owen, like a lot of people, predicted before the Premier League season kicked-off that Leicester City would be relegated, and Chelsea would retain the title. https://twitter.com/themichaelowen/status/629660825251241985?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw Owen also tipped Bournemouth, Leicester and Watford to be relegated. However, four months on, Chelsea are just above the relegation zone, and Leicester are top of the league. While neither Bournemouth or Watford are currently in the bottom three. Quite a few people on Twitter took pleasure in reminding the BT pundit of his pre-season predictions.

But there's just one issue with Owen's defence: he's paid to give his opinion on football, and is therefore expected to show a degree of expertise that goes beyond 'what everyone else thought'.
