Micah Richards has nothing but great things to say about Manchester City - he's just not going to say them right now.
Aston Villa's new signing has insisted that he had nothing to do with Fabian Delph's decision to reject a move to the Etihad.
In a wonderful score for football romantics everywhere, the English international turned down a big-money move to City so he could remain loyal to Villa. And we all rejoiced. Small victories and all that.
Most assumed that, with City rejects and compatriots Scott Sinclair and Micah Richards now at Villa, Delph must have been fed horror stories about the Eastlands.
But Richards has moved to remove himself from the... good news story. Instead, he himself has shown a bit of loyalty to his old fans who he played nine seasons in front of.
Diplomatic, sure, but he would've scored more points for just sticking the boot in and striking another blow for the purists.
