Soccer Saturday will look very different this season
Sky Sports have relieved Charlie Nicholas, Matt Le Tissier and Phil Thompson from their duties ahead of the 20/21 season.
The trio have appeared on Gillette Soccer Saturday, the football show hosted by Jeff Stelling, for years and have racked up over 50 years of service between the three of them.
They were all understood to be very popular members of the team, but Sky let them go on Tuesday as the broadcaster look to make cost-cutting redundancies.
It is not yet known who will replace them on Soccer Saturday, but Paul Merson will remain on the show.
Le Tissier, who became a pundit on Sky Sports after retiring from his playing career, tweeted his appreciation to the backroom team at Sky and thanked viewers for their support.
"Enjoyed my time at Sky Sports," he said.
"Time to look forward to life's next challenge. Thank you for the support down the years and special thanks to the backrooom team amongst many others.
"Good luck all, have a lovely day," he added.
Meanwhile, Phil Thompson thanked Sky Sports for the great 22 years he spent there.
