Both reports claim that Jorge Mendes, the so-called "super-agent" who represents Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho among others, is working on the deal for Doherty. Mendes has close links to Wolves and also represents the club's manager.
The new deal for Doherty will scupper any interest Tottenham have in the player. Spurs are said to be interested in signing Doherty and are understood to be monitoring his contract situation. The 26-year-old helped Wolves record a 3-1 win over Tottenham at Wembley recently.
