Martin O’Neill has yet another injury concern ahead of Euro 2016

Two months out and the injury worries keep piling up for Martin O'Neill ahead of Euro 2016.

Already O’Neill knows he will be without Rob Elliott, while Jon Walters, Robbie Keane and Kevin Doyle are all recovering from surgery, which is hardly ideal preparation for facing Sweden on 13 June. And the Derryman has been hit with yet another blow to his summer plans as Derby's Jeff Hendrick has suffered a nasty muscle tear. The midfielder missed last month's friendlies against Switzerland and Slovakia and now it's been confirmed he’s torn his thigh muscle. The Derby player is likely to miss at least the next month of action as he rehabs the injury, but Derby County head coach Darren Wassall is hopeful he could feature for the Rams if they make the Championship play-offs.

“Jeff had a scan over the weekend and it has revealed a slight tear in his thigh muscle so he will be missing the next couple of games at least. “We’re not ruling him out for the rest of the season; we just have to see how his rehabilitation goes.”

We're not ruling him out yet either, but any set-back in his recovery could put his place in Ireland’s 23-man squad very much in doubt.
