Marc Wilson could miss Euro 2016 after injuring his knee

Martin O'Neill's will be hoping this is an end to the injuries.

The Ireland boss still has the best part of five months to think about his squad for Euro 2016 in France, but one man who featured throughout our successful qualifying campaign is facing a race to be fit. Marc Wilson suffered a serious knee injury in Stoke City's FA Cup loss to Crystal Palace at the weekend, and has been ruled out for up to 12 weeks with ligament damage. Speaking after the weekend loss, Mark Hughes was hopeful the Antrim native's participation in Euro 2016 was not threatened.

“Marc looks like he’s got a bad knee injury. He’s got medial ligament damage, the physio thinks, so he’s going to be out for a period of 10 to 12 weeks, unfortunately.

“Marc’s down at the moment, as you would expect. He’s looking forward to the European Championship, which is what he wants to be involved in at the end of this season so I’m not sure if his injury will make him a doubt for that, we hope not.”

Wilson was a second half substitute in the 1-1 draw with Bonsia in Zenica, while he started the return leg on the bench at the Aviva.
