Manchester United youngster Angel Gomes made Premier League history today when he came on to replace Wayne Rooney in the 88th minute of today’s 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace.
The attacking midfielder is now United’s youngest ever player aged just 16 years and 263 days. But even more impressively, he also becomes the first ever player to play in the Premier League that was born in the year 2000.

Jose Mourinho was clearly looking to Wednesday’s Europa League final, with four youngsters being given first top flight starts, and 21-year-old Josh Harrop scoring on his debut.
Angel Gomes has been highly rated for a while now, and has captained both England U16s and U17s. He is also a family friend of former Manchester United winger Nani.
In August last year, Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon became the first player born in 2000 to score in a first team English game.
