Fans tear into Phil Jones after he asks them to help design a new Manchester United kit

Is Phil Jones the new Duncan Edwards, or is he just a more injury prone John O'Shea?

The answer most likely falls somewhere in between. Once a promising centre back, the Manchester United defender has seen his development curbed by a succession of injuries and constant shifting in his position. Sometimes he's a defensive midfield spoiler, others he's a right back. By the time he does get a few games as at centre half he's inevitably injured again and the cycle begins anew. It's always frustrating seeing a player tipped for big things stutter due to factors out of his control, but that hasn't stopped football fans from having a swipe at the United fan following his friendly invitation to an Adidas competition. Like many Adidas-affiliated footballers, Phil Jones has been asking football fans to take part in a new competition to design new alternate kits for Adidas sponsored football clubs. https://twitter.com/PhilJones4/status/765189637035921408 All good clean fun... So of course football fans took this as an opportunity to tell Phil Jones what they think of him.

Brutal stuff. Phil Jones didn't feature in Manchester United's 3-1 win over Bournemouth this weekend, but did play in three of Manchester United's games in pre season. Here's hoping he can get some headlines for his football in the coming months.
