Raheem Sterling seemed settled at Liverpool, and Harry Kane had more chance of going on loan than getting a game at Spurs. So, imagine how distant 1902 is in football terms. This video is like finding dinosaur bones. The British Film Institute have released the first ever recorded Manchester United match, and it's staggering how different the game is now. The game against Burnley at Turf Moor was well-attended, but, by modern standards, resembles park football rather than England's second division. United, who had just changed their name from Newton Heath, had yet to win a league title, their first coming in 1908, but won the game 2-0. Jack Peddie was their top scorer with 11 goals, James West was the coach and a certain Ryan Giggs was still in the youth team.
