United signed a landmark £750 million, 10-year deal with Adidas last year, which will come into effect at the start of next season. However, the club's current kit deal with Nike doesn't run out until July 31st.
The Sunday Mirror are reporting that United will have to bring both their current Nike kits and their new Adidas ones on their pre-season tour of the United States as a result.
Nike were apparently so disappointed at losing their United sponsorship to their fiercest competitiors that they refused to allow the club to opt out of the deal early to show off their new kits.
Nike's £303 million, 13-year deal with United began back in 2002. The sportswear manufacturer are reportedly not taking the break-up well, but the club have played the "it's not you, it's me" card to soften the blow.
