Manchester United are very much a work in progress but their 3-2 victory over Southampton on Sunday afternoon did show some signs of promise that Louis van Gaal is working it out.
And perhaps it was the thought of injury-stricken teammate Luke Shaw that inspired United to a comeback victory over Saints after falling behind to a Graziano Pelle goal.
A brace from new boy Anthony Martial and a sharp finish from Juan Mata was enough to deliver all three points to the Red Devils and it was Mata who first took to Twitter to dedicate the hard-fought victory to Shaw, who is likely to be out for six months as he rehabilitates a double leg fracture.

Memphis Depay, who was on his way to developing a terrific relationship with Shaw on the left flank of Old Trafford, followed suit by posting a picture on Instagram explaining that the win was for the United left-back.
