Manchester United charge fans for match without a confirmed date or opponents

Manchester United are clearly a very helpful business football club.

The Premier League club have debited money from season ticket holders' bank accounts for the upcoming Champions League qualifying game. Despite no official date being set for the tie, or opponent confirmed. The draw for the final Champions League qualifying round isn't due to be made until August 7th, with the first leg of the tie to be played on either August 18th or 19th, and the second leg on August 25th or 26th. Naturally, as no opponent or date has been confirmed, the club took it upon themselves to go ahead and charge their customers fans for their tickets. Despite United helping their customers fans with such a useful service, and taking their money, without knowledge of their respective plans, or the tie's date or opponents, some Red Devils weren't pleased. https://twitter.com/barneyrednews/status/626050719456579584 United, being such an understanding business football club, do at least offer season ticket holders the chance to opt out of automatic purchases for cup games. This could adversely affect fans' chances of obtaining much sought after away tickets though.

"If a Ticket Holder opts out of purchasing any cup ticket (either at the start of the Season (in the case of the League Cup) or on a match by match basis), then this may adversely affect any application to obtain away match tickets (which includes, without limitation, any finals of cup competitions and any FA Cup semi-finals) through the application processes operated by the Club."
