Louis van Gaal takes aim at Liverpool’s title drought

Some people have very short memories.

Louis van Gaal said he "cannot imagine" Manchester United going as long without a top-flight title as Liverpool's 26 years. "I am part of the transition, so I cannot imagine that shall happen with Manchester United," he is quoted as saying in the Daily Star. Of course, United's 1993 title triumph came after a wait of... yep, you guessed it, 26 years. https://twitter.com/suttonnick/status/688126128993665026 Van Gaal continued with his comparisons of the two clubs and, as Jamie Jackson reports in The Guardian, claimed United will not suffer for long. "But, as you say, when [a league title] is happening to Liverpool it can happen also to Manchester United. "But I cannot imagine that, as we are in position and we are going in the right way. "Maybe it shall take a longer time but I cannot imagine that it shall be the same for Manchester United: it’s too big, too well organised and we have infrastructure and we are improving that every year." Improving every year from what exactly? Being 2013 league champions or seventh place no-hopers in 2014?
