Former Barcelona star Hristo Stoichkov has launched a blistering attack on Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, predicting that the Dutchman will 'destroy' the club.
Stoichkov won five La Liga titles and European Cup medal at Barcelona but a bitter fallout with then boss Van Gaal brought his second spell at the club to an end in 1998, and the Bulgarian has issued a warning to United target Pedro not to join Van Gaal under any circumstances.
Citing the manager's treatment of former Barca goalkeeper Victor Valdes, Stoichkov, now 49, told a Spanish radio station: "I would never be under the orders of Van Gaal.
"He's mediocre. He destroyed Barca and is destroying Manchester United.
"With what he has done to [Victor] Valdes he has shown he is a bad person. Hopefully Pedro listens to me and doesn't leave."
