This prospect has led to Jurgen Klopp shifting his attention to Brighton's Alexis Mac Allister, with the Argentinian World Cup winner playing a crucial role in what has been a superb season for the Seagulls.
The 24-year-old has made 30 appearances in the Premier League this season, scoring ten goals and grabbing one assist in the process as his Brighton side push for European football.
Now, according to the Mirror, Jurgen Klopp has requested that the Anfield hierarchy close the deal for Mac Allister and see out reported opposition from the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea.
Mac Allister still has three years left to run on his current Brighton deal, but with the south coast club having already signed Liverpool's James Milner and in talks for Borussia Dortmund's Mahmoud Dahoud, it appears Roberto De Zerbi has begun. to plan for life without the Argentinian.
