Liverpool want to offer striker Roberto Firmino a contract for the rest of his career

Liverpool want to ward off potential future interest in Roberto Firmino by offering him a new contract. There is nothing unusual about that. What is startling, though, is that the proposed new deal will commit him to Anfield for the rest of his career in a kind of extreme reactionary move to Philippe Coutinho's departure. Firmino has been a hit since joining the Reds from Hoffenheim in the summer of 2015, scoring 37 goals in 199 appearances.
