Liverpool agree unique deal with Rangers regarding future loan moves

Don't expect to see too many Liverpool youngsters heading to Celtic for experience in the coming years.

Following reports that Celtic and Rangers are set to do battle for a season-long loan deal for Liverpool winger Harry Wilson, it's emerged that a rather unique transfer agreement has been put in place between Steven Gerrard and Jurgen Klopp. According to the Liverpool Echo, Gerrard will have first dibs on any young Reds players that Klopp is considering sending out on loan to Scotland. Considering his close relationship with the club, Gerrard will be given the opportunity to snap up any prospects from Anfield before any offers from other Scottish sides will be entertained. The new Gers manager has already brought in Ovie Ejaria on a season-long loan from his former team and signed Jon Flanagan on a free transfer after the full-back was released from his contract. Gerrard has also been linked with approaches for the aforementioned Wilson, Ben Woodburn and Dominic Solanke although a 2011 tweet from Wilson may turn Gerrard off that particular deal. It's understood that Klopp is eager to keep hold of Woodburn and Solanke ahead of the new season but if they are made available, Gerrard will be the first man to be contacted. Gerrard's first game as Rangers manager couldn't have gone better as he watched his side coast to a 6-0 victory over Bury on Friday night, with several of his new signings getting on the scoresheet.
