Stan Collymore's claims should not be taken as gospel but this particular little doozy is an interesting one.

The former Liverpool striker, who is still close to the behind-the-scenes stuff at Anfield, was in BT Sport studios last night to offer analysis on Rangers' loss to Queen of the South and brought up Brendan Rodgers' struggles this season. The Talksport host revealed that two reliable sources had informed him that Liverpool owner John W Henry had come close to sacking Rodgers "not once, but twice."
