Liverpool linked with move for former Manchester United striker

It's not often that players have sported the red of both Manchester United and Liverpool.

Paul Ince, Michael Owen and Peter Beardsley are three such exceptions to the rule but another could well join that list if Jurgen Klopp gets his way. The Reds are being linked with an £18 million (€25 million) move for former United striker Giuseppe Rossi, currently at Fiorentina, who featured fourteen times for Alex Ferguson between 2004 and 2006. According to Italian outlet ItaSportPress, Klopp is considering a move for the 28-year-old in order to bolster his attacking options. Rossi scored four goals for United before being sent out on loan to Newcastle and Parma. Rossi then moved to Villareal where he became a stalwart for five seasons, finding the net 82 times for the La Liga outfit. Fitness has been a problem for the American-born forward as he has suffered serious knee injuries in both of his last two seasons which have taken him out of action for well over a year in total. How good an idea it would be for Klopp to get another injury-prone striker in to provide cover for another is difficult to say but Rossi's goalscoring record, when fully fit, is impossible to deny as he has 115 goals in 275 career appearances overall.
