Liverpool fans will be happy to hear who the club will be trying to sign this summer

And with the Premier League season now finished, the rumours are in full swing. One of the summer's bigger spenders is expected to be Liverpool as they look to push on from their fourth place finish. According to the Liverpool Echo, the club is in the market for a left back with Alberto Moreno having fallen out of favour and are in line to battle for Monaco's Benjamin Mendy. The 22-year-old made a name for himself after Monaco navigated their way to the Champions League semi-final and made his international debut for France in March. Liverpool, however, is not the only side looking for Mendy's signature. Manchester City are also in the race to bring the left back to the club. City are reportedly willing to offer the club £39m in the wake of the departure of long term servant Gaël Clichy and have already dealt with Monaco as they secured the signing of Bernardo Silva last week. But Liverpool will reportedly match Manchester City in the bidding process which will mean they would set a new club record if a move is to materialise. The club paid £35m for Andy Carroll back in 2011 and is still their most expensive signing to date.
