Football fans can be a fickle bunch.

That's not exactly something groundbreaking to say but that fact became glaringly clear on Tuesday night as Simon Mignolet was slaughtered and praised in equal measure after a mixed game for Liverpool. The Reds had to come from a goal behind to runaway Premier League leaders Chelsea at Anfield to snatch a point and keep some bit of life in their dwindling title challenge. Simon Mignolet was torn asunder for his role in the Blues' opener as the questionable set-up of his wall and dodgy positioning earned the ire of more than a handful of Liverpool supporters when David Luiz's free kick found the net. https://twitter.com/Dreams_Again/status/826529939092443136 https://twitter.com/Adam_Short_89/status/826528612924928000 https://twitter.com/bangkisspow/status/826528198313775105 https://twitter.com/LewisCardno15/status/826527723866697729 https://twitter.com/AiToKyoki/status/826536565228830721 https://twitter.com/matt_earl1/status/826535490274852864 But, like every good story, there was redemption. Chelsea were awarded a penalty with 15 minutes remaining and the league's top scorer, Diego Costa, stepped forward for what looked like the easiest chance for a Blues winner. He took a breath. He approached the ball. SAVED! And how quickly Reds fans changed their tune. https://twitter.com/Twotoes3281/status/826544578115280896 https://twitter.com/JustLFC_/status/826544686269661184 https://twitter.com/joe_morton05/status/826544560532811776 https://twitter.com/AdamFoxton/status/826544333268643841 https://twitter.com/Finleeyyyy/status/826545667627765760 https://twitter.com/ieuanholland3/status/826544927018463232 https://twitter.com/OnlyGuacamole/status/826544623698968578
