All hope is not lost for Irish football fans either hoping to watch Liverpool and cheer them on or hoping to get a good laugh at their defence.
The decision of TV3 to broadcast the Real Madrid on Tuesday night instead has split the camp. On the one hand, it is so obviously going to be a better game with the best players in the world on display and Graeme Souness there to whinge about every one of them.
On the other hand, Liverpool will probably make some balls-up of things in Russia and, when they do, that's going to be the story of the night.
It's not over though for all those who've fallen into the last pits of despair that sees them expressing their anger at TV stations on social media forums. Who wouldn't be angry if you thought you were going to be condemned to watching updates on the Liverpool Twitter account for the entire evening?

Coverage gets underway on eir sport 2 from 7pm with former Shay Given joining Cunningham on analysis.
The eir Sport pack is available on eir Vision, on the eir Sport App, on Vodafone TV and on Sky in the Republic of Ireland.
