A guy called Paul Rimmer believes that Liverpool's near miss last season was caused by an angry, vengeful God. He's wrong
There have been many reasons floated for Liverpool's failure to capture that elusive Premier League crown last season. Most involve the words 'slip' or 'Mignolet' but a former UKIP member called Paul Rimmer believes there were bigger forces at work. He couldn't be more wrong but have a look anyway.
Rimmer is quoted in the Mirror as saying on his Facebook page that 'In 2012 Liverpool FC sponsored the City’s Gay Pride Parade. Unless they repent they will be under a continual curse.' He then goes on to spout loads more homophobic nonsense which we won't repeat here.
Of course, Rimmer, who now represents a crowd called English Democrat, is a deluded bigot and there really is no point trying to engage with someone this blinkered and we certainly couldn't do it as perfectly as Paul Amann, Liverpool's Supporters’ Committee Lesbian Gay and Transgender representative.
"The club has got a proud record of tackling discrimination and fighting inequality and has done some fantastic work.
"LFC has never sponsored Liverpool Pride but has marched at the event for three years in succession.
"Also, Manchester City has a lively LGBT Supporters group called Canal Street Blues, which hasn’t stopped them from topping the table."
Case closed we think.
