While they still hold a comfortable 11-point lead over Rangers in the Scottish Premiership, Celtic will be embarrassed by the shock 3-0 loss at the Ibrox lat night.
Having defeated their Glasgow rivals last month on penalties in an epic Scottish League Cup final, the Bhoys were completely off the pace yesterday.
An early Ianis Hagi finish set the tone, before second-half strikes from Robin Propper and Danilo put the Old Firm derby beyond doubt.
Ireland forward Adam Idah came off the bench but could not do much to rescue his side. However, his international teammate Liam Scales, who started at centre-back, had one of his poorest games in a Celtic shirt.
Despite a number of heroic performances in recent months, the defender was at fault for the first goal after giving the ball away cheaply, and was unable to stop crosses for the second and third.
In the Sky Sports studio, former Rangers man Kris Boyd was highly critical of the Irishman.
On the Gers' opener, Boyd said: "Liam Scales, I think he had one of his worst performances in a Celtic jersey and that was the start of it there.
"That kind of set the tone...Rangers were on the front foot asking questions.
"Celtic really struggled to deal with Rangers, especially in attacking areas today."
His fellow pundit and former Hoops striker Chris Sutton added: "Celtic didn't lay a glove on them all afternoon in truth.
"It was a humiliating afternoon from a Celtic perspective. It's one game and they'll have to dust themselves down and go again.
"You know, from their perspective, it's not a bad thing at times, it's a bit of a kick up the backside, and they know they have to really raise their game again."
