Leinster Senior League issue statement after team fake death to get game cancelled

The Leinster Senior League have issued a statement clarifying that last week's mourning notice of Fernando Nuno La-Fuente is without foundation.
Leinster Senior League Honourary Secretary Pat Kieran wrote in The Herald last week that La-Fuente was tragically killed in a traffic accident on his way home from football training. Kiernan had been informed by Ballybrack that the Spanish university student, who had been playing with the club, had been killed when in actuality he had just returned to his native Spain. However, the league have since moved to clarify that La-Fuente's reported death was without any foundation and that they will discipline the matter through their own internal procedures. Their statement read:
They stressed that La-Fuente is in good health and has since returned to his native Spain.
Ballybrack were due to play Arklow but the match was subsequently called off as a mark of respect.
Messages seen by SportsJOE indicate that there was a minutes silence for La-Fuente staged around the league and that players wore black arm bands out of respect.
SportsJOE contacted the Ballybrack chairperson for comment and await their response.
