Leicester attempt to lure Manchester United starlet with Champions League promise

Danny Drinkwater, Danny Simpson, Ritchie De Laet, Ron-Robert Zieler. You may soon add Andreas Pereira to that list if this morning's reports are true. Leicester City are said to have made a summer enquiry to Manchester United about getting their 20-year-old Brazilian midfielder on a season-long loan. Claudio Ranieri is believed to have tried to get Pereira in for a six-month loan in January but then-United boss Louis van Gaal was not interested. The highly-rated attacking midfielder was only used sparingly by the Dutchman thereafter. Ranieri is attempting to bolster his squad for a 2016/17 season that will have The Foxes competing on four fronts, including the Champions League. The Sun is quoting a United source as saying:

"We had lots of clubs wanting to take Andreas on loan last season. He is highly-rated at Old Trafford and we want to keep him. There have been clubs ringing over the summer asking about his situation."

Pereira is hoping to represent Brazil in the Rio 2016 Olympics but will need to secure a month's leave from his club to do so. Whether it is something Leicester would allow may affect his decision to press forward with the loan. Pereira has made eight appearances with United and scored his first goal for the club - a fine free-kick against Ipswich - last season.
