Leeds United on the cusp of €80 million takeover

Leeds United could be getting wings if this deal goes ahead.

Red Bull are closing in on buying Leeds United for £60 million (€80 million), according to the Mirror. The energy drinks behemoths hope are looking to finalise a deal over the next “two to three weeks”. Red Bull have been eyeing up the club for over a year. High-ranking staff from the corporation have already visited Elland Road to get a taste of the match-day atmosphere and held talks with suspended chairman Massimo Cellino. Red Bull currently own clubs in Austria and Germany, and are reportedly looking into whether they can own a third without breaching UEFA regulations. However, there are suggestions they could be willing to sell either Red Bull Salzburg or Red Bull Leipzig in order to buy Leeds. Red Bull want a full takeover and have big plans for the West Yorkshire club, which may or may not include a name change. Hat-tip to the Mirror
