Ronaldo's mother Denise explained that she names her children based off what international football team was dominating in the year of their birth.
"I love football and the boys were born in 1998 - the year of the World Cup. I liked the Brazil side so I named them after Ronaldo and Rivaldo."

Oh right, that is a bit mental. In fairness, Trezeguet was one of the nicer options considering the French team of that era. She could have easily been called Lizarazu, or God forbid, Djorkaeff.
