Latest twist in Antoine Griezmann saga may have Manchester United fans worried

This season's top transfer saga looks to have taken a very interesting twist.

It's no secret that Jose Mourinho and Manchester United are keen admirers of French superstar Antoine Griezmann. The 13-time Premier League champions are expected to submit a formal bid for the 25-year-old in the summer. He is expected to demand somewhere in the region of £250,000 as a weekly wage. According to reports in the Mail on Sunday, United will have to contend with a similar bid from rivals, Arsenal. Arsene Wenger made an approach to sign the Frenchman last summer but was quickly told where to go as Griezmann had just extended his contract to 2021. The report suggests that Arsenal will compete with United for Griezmann's signature and would be willing to go above and beyond the £250,000 wage figure in order to lure him to the Emirates. Arsenal's potential signing of Griezmann would undoubtedly be a significant coup for the club and it would be quite surprising too. Wenger doesn't exactly have a reputation for spending astronomical amounts of money on big-name players. However, after years of relatively frugal spending and attention on developing unproven talent, Wenger may yet break from the norm in order to secure a player which could turn his side into genuine contenders for the Premier League title next season.
