Kevin De Bruyne didn’t deserve to get knocked out of the Champions League

It must be a dream to be a striker alongside a man like Kevin De Bruyne.

There are few sure things in this life but when the Belgian genius gets on the ball, everybody knows that something is about to happen. The opposition defenders scurry backwards unsure of what to do. Forwards, like Sergio Aguero tear into space buoyed by the knowledge that the sweetest ball-striker in the land is going to place it on a six-pence. Raheem Sterling takes off like a man possessed. At the perfect time and with the perfect weight, De Bruyne will always find them. He did not deserve to lose that game. There was a time during Man City and Spurs' wonder-match that City's play-maker was averaging an assist every 19 minutes. In his last two games, he's directly set-up five goals. Those are record-breaking stats but when you were lucky enough to watch City's 17 drive Spurs' defenders to distraction for 90 full minutes at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night, it's plain to see that this man is a class apart. Relentless. The fact that he's missed out on four months of this season helps to explain it, but by God, that man is making up for lost time now. The game was no older than four minutes when he began doing his thing. A searing dart through the Spurs midfield, a dream of a ball out to Raheem Sterling, City were in business Spurs were quick to respond but De Bruyne was a man on a massion. His blasted cross for Sterling's second goal of the night was like something you'd see with the tv on fast forward mode. Zipped to the promised land.
