Jurgen Klopp hits out at Daniel Sturridge’s over-confident fitness update

Don't argue, just sit there and relax.

If we were Daniel Sturridge we'd be doing our best too to try and convince Jurgen Klopp that we are worth sticking with. The England striker has had yet another disappointing season with injury, but has shown, in patches, he is as sharp as ever. Days after he struck twice against Southampton, the striker limped off in the loss to Newcastle and hasn't been seen since. Yesterday he was mocked for his latest fitness update on Twitter as he proclaimed to be back to full fitness, but his manager disagrees. Jurgen Klopp told reporters ahead of the trip to Sunderland, that Sturridge will not play any game over Christmas, no matter what he says

"This is absolutely the same thing that Daniel said four weeks ago." We let him play and he was injured again. He says this, you ask him and he says he's good. I know he is good. But he has to train. We cannot change the situation. He has to train now." 'With him, last week and this week are most intensive weeks in training for Daniel Sturridge in the last three years. So now you can see what we have to do. We cannot say "Come on Daniel! Now you look good, so you can play!"

Liverpool have just one fit striker for the game in the north east as Divock Origi hurt his hamstring in the 1-0 win over Leicester City leaving the goal-scoring burden on Christian Benteke. Sturridge has broken down several times in training from previous injuries, and Klopp does not want a repeat,

'I don't want to see him (playing) in training. Everybody sees him training and they think "oh, come on, bring him into the team, we need his quality!" But no. We really, really have to be patient now, we have to wait.

'We have to train, we have to give the body the right information, and if he can do this, then maybe we can change something.'
