Jose Mourinho says the problem at United is the players

Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has said that the players, organisation and the ambition are the biggest problems facing the club at present.

United experienced a horrendous finish to their season with a draw away at relegated Huddersfield before they ended their campaign with a defeat at home to relegated Cardiff last Sund. Mourinho was dimissed earlier in the season and replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after a defeat away to Liverpool with midfielder Paul Pogba coming under fire for posting a picture of himself in the immediate aftermath of his dismissal. Mourinho denied that Pogba was solely responsible for his departure from the club and said that he can imagine the players are part of the ongoing problems at Old Trafford.

 "No, no," Mourinho told L'Equipe. "The problems are there, you can imagine that the problems are the players, the organisation and the ambition. "I will only say that I cannot say 'yes' when you ask if Paul was the only one responsible."

Mourinho was ridiculed when he said last year that getting United to second placed last season behind Manchester City was the greatest achievement of his managerial career and he added that he now people know why he made those comments.

"I said nine or 10 months ago that after winning eight Championships, finishing second with United may have been my greatest achievement. Now people understand."
