Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho came under fire from rival club Galatasaray, following the 0-0 draw between the two Istanbul-based clubs on the weekend.
The famed Portuguese boss compared his opponent's bench to monkeys, while also making derogatory comments about Turkish referees.
In a statement, Galatasaray accused Mourinho of racism and even threatened legal action.
They said: “Since the commencement of his managerial duties in Turkey, Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has persistently issued derogatory statements directed towards the Turkish people. Today, his discourse has escalated beyond merely immoral comments into unequivocally inhumane rhetoric.
“We hereby formally declare our intention to initiate criminal proceedings concerning the racist statements made by Jose Mourinho, and shall accordingly submit official complaints to Uefa and Fifa."
Didier Drogba - who has previously played for Galatasaray - took to social media to stick up for his former gaffer.
After joining Chelsea in 2004, Mourinho made Drogba one of his first signings, with the Ivorian striker becoming a Premier League sensation, helping Mourinho's Londoners to two Premier League titles.
When Mourinho returned to Chelsea six years later, he resigned Drogba and the pair won another league title.
In a post on X, the forward referred to Mourinho as his "Dad":
