Jonathan Walters’ Stoke City career appears to be over

Jonathan Walters has reportedly submitted a transfer request.

Sky Sports News HQ are reporting that the Stoke City forward has told the club he wants to leave, with Norwich City a possible destination. The club had offered the Liverpool-native a new contract, but Walters turned it down. Sky Sports have said the player wanted a new three year deal, but Stoke only offered a one year extension. The player was absent from Ireland training in Dublin today, with manager Martin O'Neill revealing the player was in England trying to sort out his club future.

"There may be something happening although he’s not terribly sure at this minute but while there is the possibility of something happening to him then I think it’s best that he sees it (from England) until the transfer deadline is finished."
