John Terry undergoes medical ahead of move to Russia

John Terry looks set to see his career out in Russia.

Terry is not ready to hang up his boots just yet and while he has been linked with a return to Aston Villa, a reunion with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United and a switch to Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon, it appears that Spartak Moscow will be the defender's next club. The Mirror report that Terry is undergoing a medical with Spartak Moscow ahead of a move to the Russian Premier League. The 37-year-old spent last season on loan at Villa but became a free agent after the club failed to achieve promotion to the Premier League. After admitting that he's open to a future career in coaching or punditry, Terry insists that he has plenty left to give as a player. "I am in the best condition I have been in for the last eight to 10 years of my career," the Chelsea legend told the Daily Mail. "I've had a brilliant summer, the first time in 20 years I have been able to get away like that with my family during the school holidays. I was away so much last year because I was fully committed to giving everything to Aston Villa, but now I am fully recharged." Sky Italia report that Terry is viewed as a replacement for Spartak centre-half Samuel Gigot, who is expected to miss the rest of the season with an injury. Terry will come up against former England teammate Steven Gerrard in the Europa League as Spartak Moscow and Rangers have been drawn together in Group G.
