McCarthy had the BT Sport studio captivated on Saturday evening as he regaled them with stories from his time as a manager.
The former Ipswich, Wolves and Sunderland boss was uncharacteristically forthcoming as he revealed how he'd had his feet up in bed for the last couple of deadline days before divulging a story about substituting former Wolves striker, Jay Bothroyd.
Bothroyd had just found the net when he was withdrawn from a game by McCarthy because of a gesture he made during his celebration.
McCarthy claimed that Bothroyd, who scored 13 goals in 60 appearances for Wolves, was adamant that his celebration wasn't aimed at the manager but McCarthy was having none of it.

BT Sport included that story in a highlight package of McCarthy's best bits from Saturday's show and Bothroyd didn't take too kindly to being tagged in the tweet as he suggested that McCarthy was no angel himself.
The 36-year-old, now plying his trade at Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo, claimed that his ex-manager once headbutted a player after a game and then insisted upon apologising in front of the entire Wolves squad.
