Wrexham and Chelsea are in the US for their pre-season preparations in Santa Clara, California and faced off against each other.
Enzo Maresca's side had to rely on a late equaliser from Lesley Ugochukwu as they scraped a 2-2 draw with League One opposition.
However, it only took a matter of minutes for the game to become heated as Colwill, 21 became incensed by a late challenge from McClean.
Colwill grabbed McClean's shirt and began shoving the former Republic of Ireland international before several players and staff intervened to get them off each other.
Chelsea took the lead inside 10 minutes as Christopher Nkunku fired into the bottom corner as Wrexham failed to clear Reece James' corner.
Phil Parkinson's side were level in the second half via Luke Bolton before Jack Marriott then gave the third-tier side the lead.
Ugochukwu's 82nd-minute equaliser spared any embarrassment as Chelsea's preparation for their season opener against Manchester City continues.
