Jack Grealish will be back playing in the green jersey this year, confirms Dad

Jack Grealish will be rejoining the Boys In Green in September, according to his father.

The Aston Villa starlet got Irish fans all excited earlier this year at the FAI awards. After being crowned the Irish U21 player of the year, Grealish explained he was taking a break from international football to focus on his club career, but he intends to return to the Irish U21 set up in September 2015.

"This year I spoke to Noel (King) at the start of everything and I said to Noel, 'this year I'm going to take a year out to concentrate on my club football'. You know, it helped, I signed a new five-year contract. I've had a good, successful year. So, like I said, hopefully next year I'll be back in the green jersey."

Kevin Grealish, Jack's father, confirmed to the Irish Independent that the Villa midfielder will keep the promise he made at the FAI awards.

"Jack will ultimately make the decision on his international future but nothing has changed for him since he made that statement last month."

However, Kevin added that although his son will play for the U21 team, it does not mean he has decided on his senior international future as of yet. He reiterated that Jack is still very much concentrating on his career with Aston Villa, who reached the FA Cup final after defeating Liverpool at the weekend.

"It must be remembered that Jack only recently broke into the Villa first-team, so his sole focus is on keeping his place, helping the club avoid relegation and hopefully playing in the FA Cup final on May 30."
