Jack Byrne with nice assist for Aaron Greene goal

Jack Byrne's strong season continues with another assist during Shamrock Rovers trip to Derry on Friday night.

Byrne played through Aaron Greene for the Hoops opener in a lovely passage of play for the visitors that saw Greene sprint clear of the Derry City defence before tucking the ball into the bottom corner to give the visitors the lead just before half-time. https://twitter.com/SoccRepublic/status/1119324024373305344 Byrne has been central to Rovers success over the last two months as Stephen Bradley's side sit at the top of the League of Ireland table with 10 wins from 12 matches and Byrne has said that he is relishing playing in a side that wants to play football this season.

“It has been down to hard work, that’s what I needed when I came home and I’ve been given a chance to play in a team that wants to play football. I do still think there is more to come from me and from the team. We are all working hard,” Byrne said earlier this month after he was awarded the SSE Airtricity League/Soccer Writers’ Association of Ireland Player of the Month for March.. “The manager has been great, he has been supportive and showed that he is there to support everyone. There is strength in this group of players and it’s great to be a part of it.”
