Republic of Ireland international Savannah McCarthy was taken to hospital on Sunday night following a car crash in Limerick.
The 27-year-old was involved in a two-vehicle collision on the N69 at Glin, shortly before 8 pm on October, and was taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment. She is currently being treated for injuries.
Two other men, one in his 40s and another in his 50s, were also hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone with camera footage in the area between 7.45 pm and 8.15 pm, to contact Newcastle West Garda Station or the Garda Confidential Line.
McCarthy, who made her Ireland debut in 2016 and has earned 10 caps, missed the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup due to injury. She played for Shamrock Rovers this season after stints with Cork City and Galway United.
The FAI have yet to comment.
