"The only good thing is that the public out there have witnessed it."
Representatives from the Football Association of Ireland appeared in front of the Oireachtas Committee for Transport, Tourism and Sport on Wednesday.
The association faced questions on their finances from several TDs at Leinster House. The President of the board of the FAI Donal Conway opened proceedings with a lengthy statement before an adjournment was called to pre-read John Delaney's statement.
The former FAI CEO said that he was not in the position to answer questions on the "finances of the Association or my former role as CEO or the €100,000 payment."
Later in the day, Imedla Munster said that she was "scarlet" for the association. The Sinn Fein TD for Louth then asked Delaney if he had ever considered his position or offered his resignation.
"I've made my statement," Delaney said in response.
"The former CEO has behaved disgracefully today," Munster said after Delaney did not answer her question.

"He came in with a last-minute statement. He knows the procedures for this committee. He has furnished with the statement but he's refusing to answer any questions in relation to the statement.
"He's also refusing to answer any questions that are ongoing in relation to his time as CEO.
"It's an absolute disgrace and it's been farcical, what has gone here, but the only good thing is that the public out there have witnessed it first-hand too."
