Ian Wright is far more sympathetic towards Alexis Sanchez than some of his fellow Arsenal legends.
Last week, former Arsenal centre-half Martin Keown branded Sanchez "the biggest mercenary in football" after the 29-year-old decided to move to Manchester United over Manchester City.
Keown ripped into Sanchez for, what he claimed, was the prioritisation of money over development but Wright is much more understanding.
Sanchez signed for United on Monday in a swap deal which sees Henrikh Mkhitaryan move in the opposite direction and the Chile international is expected to earn at least £400,000 a week at Old Trafford.
Wright doesn't begrudge Sanchez his new earnings and has pointed out that Arsenal's top scorer last season had made it clear on several occasions that his goal in football was to win trophies.
With the Gunners a staggering 23 points off league leaders Manchester City and flattering to deceive in various cup competitions, Wright insists that Sanchez can't be blamed for a desire to jump ship.
"Gutted to see this but, he did say on many occasions he wants to win things!" Wright said on Instagram.
