Here’s why Leicester City having “an easy season” is a complete and utter myth

There's been an odd narrative around Leicester's triumphant 2015/16 season.

The dominant forces in English football have certainly found themselves lacking this year, and you'll often hear people saying that this "left the door open" for Leicester City to win the league. But if you compare Leicester's points tally this Premier League season to champions of seasons gone by, it's clear that this year has certainly been competitive, but there has clearly been a shift in the balance of power. It's not down to it being "an easy season" for Leicester, their projected points tally for the end of the season is very much a respectable one. While other teams, such as Arsenal, have fallen away and scored disappointing points tallies, Leicester have remained dominant all season.

Here's what the points tally for the top four could look like at the end of the 2015/16 season:

Compare that to last season and it's not a world apart:

The 2013/14 was certainly a closer race:

But 2012/13 was similar to this season:

In 2011/12 nobody claimed that Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea had "left the door open" for the Manchester clubs.

And if there has been an "easy" title in recent memory, surely United's points tally of 80 in 2010/11 gets the nod, unless Leicester end up losing their last two games.

Just because Leicester's domination this season was unexpected, it doesn't mean it was easy. At this stage in the season, they've actually been one of the more dominant sides in recent memory. And if they carry this form through to the end, they will certainly go down as one of the most dominant sides in the last 10 years.
