If you were having a late dinner, or an early breakfast, you would have been well advised to stay well away from seeing the image of Kevin Doyle's disfigured leg that swarmed all over social media in the last 12 hours.
The Wexford man suffered a disgusting injury that would not have been out of place in a horror movie when he was smashed by a Swiss defender in last night's friendly win at the Aviva.
Doyle lasted less than 30 minutes, and tweeted a graphic image of the damage sustained by a mixture of studs, and brute force.

Thankfully however, the news this morning is much better and Doyle will have an impressive scar to show his kids, after surgeons repaired the damage.
The Colorado Rapids striker has issued an update via twitter that suggests he may yet feature at Euro 2016 after all.

Best of luck to him in his recovery.
